Sara Sacco, MD, FAHS is the Medical Director of the Carolinas Headache Clinic in Matthews, North Carolina, where she has been in private practice specializing in headache medicine for over 25 years. She completed her residency in Neurology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, followed by fellowships in Clinical Neurology and Stroke Medicine at the Mayo Clinic
in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Sacco is board certified in Neurology and Headache Medicine. She is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Headache Society, the International Headache Society, and the Southern Headache Society.
A Fellow of the American Headache Society (FAHS), Dr. Sacco has served on the Board of Directors of the Southern Headache Society for the past four years. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Carolinas Headache Foundation and is Treasurer of this nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to improving the education of primary care providers to enhance the care of patients with headache disorders.
Dr. Sacco previously served as Education Chair for the Southern Headache Society and wasProgram Co-Chair for the 2023 Southern Headache Society Fall Meeting. She has a strong commitment to advancing headache education and is actively involved in educating both healthcare providers and patients on the diagnosis and management of headache disorders.
