Support House Resolution 1160 (H.Res 1160)
Expressing support for the designation of September 2020 as “Pain Awareness Month” and recognizing the disproportionate impact of migraine disease and headache disorders on women.

In alignment with Pain Awareness Month in September, Representative Madeleine Dean (PA-4) and Representative Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) introduced a resolution on September 30, 2020. This resolution was written to acknowledge the disproportionate impact of migraine disease & headache disease on women.
The resolution highlights some key issues in our community:
- Disability (including Social Security Administration issues)
- Workplace Impact (including presenteeism / absenteeism)
- Disproportionate Impact on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)
- Specific Focus on Cluster Headache
- Access to Treatment
- Federal Research Funding
We would like to encourage you to share this resolution with your Representative and seek their support in co-sponsoring the resolution.
WHY: The resolution asks for additional support for migraine disease and headache disorders, and reaffirms a commitment to public education about migraine disease and headache disorders to reduce stigma.
